What We Provide
For the first 17 years of a young person's life, families do everything they can to keep them safe. At Clarky's Driving School, we feel exactly the same way. We're not just instructors - we're also parents, and we bring that same care and responsibility to every lesson we teach.
We'll never push a pupil to take their test before they're truly ready. We only recommend a test when we're genuinely confident you have the knowledge, skill, and experience to drive safely - not just to pass, but for the rest of your driving life.
Beginner Driving Lessons
Start your driving journey with driving lessons in Hemel Hempstead. We take you from total beginner to confidently passing your driving test.
Refresher Driving Lessons
Revisit key skills. Not driven for some time, or in the UK? Let us bring you back up to speed so you can take to the roads with competence and confidence.
Motorway Driving Lessons
Be prepared for the speed, volume of traffic and entry and exit on slip roads.
Driving Theory Test Preparation
The theory test is a mandatory qualification before you can sit your practical driving test.
Lessons for Nervous Drivers
Take your time to become fully confident with our patient and understanding driving instructors. We have male and female instructors and manual and automatic cars.
Mock Driving Tests
As part of your preparation, we'll take your lessons to the driving test routes so you're familiar and confident on the roads you may face. We also run mock tests to the official format and marking criteria, so you know exactly what to expect, settle any nerves, and we can pinpoint anything to polish before your test date.
By the time you sit your real test, you'll be driving safely and confidently, with the experience and preparation to give you the best possible chance of passing first time.

Who are our driving lessons for?
Learners of all ages and experience levels. First-timers, nervous drivers, and those refreshing their skills are all welcome.
Manual or automatic?
Manual with Martin (Seat Ibiza), automatic with Jenny (Toyota Yaris Hybrid). Not sure which? Just ask!
When will I be driving test-ready?
Everyone is different — we'll be honest with you every step of the way and only recommend a test when you're genuinely ready.
Teaching to DVSA standards
We're fully qualified ADIs and members of the Driving Instructor Association, teaching to current DVSA standards.
